English River’s Gladue named SIJHL – Play It Again Sports player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that English River Miners forward Sidney Gladue has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period concluding Oct. 9.

In two games last week for the Miners, the 20-year-old Wabasca, Alta., product amassed five points helping his club complete a two-game sweep of the first place Thunder Bay North Stars.

Gladue began by supplying a power play goal in a 5-1 triumph Saturday evening.

He then followed up by tallying twice, including notching the game-winner, and doling out a pair of assists as English River dumped Thunder Bay 5-2 Sunday afternoon.

Gladue is currently riding a four-game point streak and sits tied for third in league scoring with 10 points, including four goals.

Two of his markers have been game-winners, which presently leads the SIJHL.

Also earning consideration for Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:

Billy Gorn, (G) Fort Frances Lakers; Braedyn Aubin, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs; Jonathan Chin, (G) Minnesota Iron Rangers; Ryan Buttazzoni (G) Thief River Falls Norskies and Nicholas Nigro, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
