The Fort Frances Lakers playing their 3rd game in three days visit the Cochenour Arena to play the second game of a 2 game series against the English River Miners. Izzy Ralsten makes his third straight start for the Lakers while Westin Cardwell got the start between the posts for the Miners.
Fort Frances would get on the board first while both teams were playing with 4 skaters at 10:38. Nick Lucas carried the puck down the ice beating his defender on the blue line cleanly before backhanding the puck past Cardwell for his 15th of the season. The Miners would tie it up at 15:11 on the power play. Brody Jennings would make a nice cross ice pass to Spencer Milne who would finish it off with a one timer past a helpless Ralsten for is 13th of the season. English River would kill of a late period 5 on 3 Lakers power play before the buzzer went. After 20 minutes the Lakers out shoot the Miners 14-11 and the score is tied at 1.
English River would take a 2-1 lead at 2:17 of the second period. Spencer Milne would grab a rebound off a point shot and beat Ralsten for his 14th goal of the season. Fort Frances wouldn’t waste any time as they score less than a minute later to tie the game at 2. With the Miners unable to clear the puck from their end Jack Bernie took a pass and beat Cardwell for his 11th of the season. At 9:31 the Miners would take a 3-2 lead when Nic Herringer would put a rebound past Ralsten for his 12th. Michael DiLullo would make it 4-2 Miners at 13:13 scoring his 16th of the season. Fort Frances would out shoot the Miners 10-9 in the period and after 40 minutes the Miners lead the Lakers 4-2.
The third period started with 4 on 4 hockey and the Miners would get an early tally. Dante Tisi would score his second of the season finishing off a 2 on 1 rush pass from Milne just 23 seconds into the frame. Jacob Siebenga would make it 6-2 Miners just 30 seconds later putting a rebound past Ralsten for his 11th of the season. Ian Jarvis cut the Miners lead down at 7:48 with an unassisted tally for his 13th goal. Miners would finish of the scoring with Brody Jennings 8th since returning from the Miners on the power play. Miners dominate the third period outshooting the Lakers 17-6 in the third period. Final score English River Miners 7 Fort Frances Lakers 3.
A solid performance by the Miners for their 4th straight win. The Siebenga-DiLullo-Milne line were explosive combining for 13 points while Brody Jennings had 3 points from the blue line. Westin Cardwell stopped 27 of 30 shots for his 9th win.
