The English River Miners made the trek down the 105 to Dryden to face the Dryden GM Ice Dogs at Memorial Arena. Westin Cardwell would get the start for the Miners while Jacob Gnidziejko would start for the Dogs.
First period action saw Dryden GM control the play. The Miners would get two power plays to one for the Ice Dogs. Neither team could put the puck over the line in the period. Score after 20 minutes is 0-0 and the Ice Dogs out shoot the Miners 17-5.
The second period saw the Miners pinned early in the period which resulted in a penalty. Shortly after the penalty expired the Miners still pinned could not get the puck out and Evan Walls scored his 6th to make the score 1-0 Ice Dogs. The Miners would get their chance on the power play shortly after but after a Miner fell down in his own end turning the puck over to Trey Palermo would leave it for Eric Stout who beat Cardwell to make it 2-0 with the short handed goal. The second period was full of penalties and when it was finally over the Miners trailed 2-0 after 40 minutes with the shot count at 30-11 for the Ice Dogs.
The third period saw some early chances for the Ice Dogs. At 4:00 Cory Dennis would score his 4th of the season to make it 3-0 Dryden. At 9:59 Spencer Milne would score his 3rd of the season on the power play to make it 3-1. Just before the end of the 5 minute power play 2 Miners would end up in the box which would turn in to a 5 on 3 man advantage for the Ice Dogs. Eric Stout would convert on the power play for his second of the night and make the score 4-1. That would put an end to any chance the Miners had of getting back in the game.
