After 2 straight wins and points in last 3 games the English River Miners play their 4th game in 4 days against the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Hoyt Lakes. Westin Cardwell gets the start in net for the Miners while Tyler Thompson gets the start for the Rangers.
Despite being outshot early the Iron Rangers open the scoring at 7:15 when Eli Kinsman netted his 6th of the season finishing off a 2 on 1 after a Miners turnover. Michael DiLullo would tie the game up at 9:05 scoring his 10th of the season on a pass from Jared Janke. The Miners would take the lead at 17:56 on the power play. Brody Jennings scored his first of the season from Dante Tisi and Matt O’Neill. That would be all the scoring in the first and the Miners lead 2-1 after 20 minutes and hold the edge in shots 17-3.
Second period action saw the Miners get in some penalty troubles. Minnesota would tie the game up on their 3rd power play of the period. Zac Horn scored his 6th of the year at 14:03 beating Cardwell. Tere would be no more scoring in the period and after 40 minutes the score is tied at despite the Miners out shooting the Rangers 26-10.
There were no goals scored in the 3rd period as both goaltenders kept their teams in the game. Shots were 13-13 in the period and the game would head to overtime. The Miners would start the Overtime period on a 5 on 3 power play as 2 penalties were called on the Rangers with 22 seconds left in the 3rd. This would give the Miners the advantage and they would not miss the opportunity. Zak Albers would score his 3rd of the season with his parents in the stands watching. At 1:21 Albers banged home a rebound, assists going to Spencer Milne and Ethan Wong.

After a successful road trip takin 7 out of the possible 8 points the Miners will get some time to rest. Miners next action is at the Cochenour Arena December 1,2017 as the host the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
