Norskies’ Braaten blanks Miners

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – Kross Braaten turned aside all 26 shots he faced to post the first Superior International Junior Hockey League shutout in Thief River Falls Norskies history Sunday as he blanked the English River Norskies 3-0 at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

Jared Pederson notched the only goal the Norskies would need in the contest just past the 15-minute mark of the opening period.

Special teams allowed Thief River Falls to add another late in the frame when Keaton Huot scored on the power play with 37 seconds left in the frame.

After a scoreless middle session, the home side capped off the night’s scoring with another man advantage marker that was supplied by Blair Lindholm with 9:02 to go.

Parker Simonson dished out two assists to aid the winners’ cause.

Spencer Eschyschyn faced 39 attempts in defeat for English River.
