Norskies @ Miners – January 19,2018

The CJHL # 2 ranked Thief River Falls Norskies travelled up highway 105 to face the Miners at the Cochenour Arena. Norskies come into the game looking got end a 2 game winless streak while the Miners look to get back in the win column and extend the home winning streak. Bailey Schmitz would get the start for the Norskies while the Miners would counter with Michael Lenko.
First period action saw the Norskies take a quick 1-0 lead scoring on their first shot. Michael Johnson would redirect a shot from Parker Simonson for his 7th of the season at 4:29. Miners would counter when Spencer Milne scored his 7th At 5:05. Miners make the score 2-1 when Dante Tisi jumped in the rush to score his first of the season at 13:21. Landon Russell would score his first SIJHL goal at 14:53 to make it 3-1. With 10 seconds left in the period Nic Herringer scored his 10th of the season to make the score 4-1 after 20 minutes. Thief River would hold the edge in shots for the period 14-10.
The second period the Miners would make it 5-1 when Spencer Milne scored his second of the night on the power play at . Tate Steffan would score his first SIJHL goal at 5:03. Sam Cirone made it 6-2 Miners notching his 4th of the season at 8:53 beating Jackson Nelson who came in after the Miners 5th goal. The Miners would get one more before the period ended when Jacob Siebenga scored his 6th of the season at 17:42. After 40 minutes of play the Miners lead the Norskies 7-2 despite being outshot 24-17.
The Norskies night didn’t get much better in the 3rd period. Mark Ziobro would score his second of the year at 6:27 on the power play. Michael DiLullo would score his 13th of the year at 9:40 to make it 9-2 Miners. Both teams would put 11 shots on net in the period and the final score is English River Miners 9 Thief River Norskies 2.
