After taking the first game of the 2 game series the English River Miners look to make it 2 games in a row. Michael Lenko would get his second straight start for the Miners while Rob Ivy got the call for the Rangers.
Sloppy play in the first would lead to Garrett Wojcicki’s 2nd of the season giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead at 13:34 of the first. Things got worse for the Miners on the power play. Eli Kinsman wold bang the rebound home on a 2 on 0 shorthanded breakaway at 18:54. Miners would get a short 5 on 3 power play before the end of the period but couldn’t convert. Despite having a 13-11 edge in shots the Miners trailed 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Starting the 2nd period on a 5 on 3 power play the Miners failed to convert. Nic Herringer would get the Miners on the board at 6:25 scoring his 5th of the season. Herringer would tie the game at 2 at 10:53. The Miners would turn things around dominating the Rangers in the second outshooting the Rangers 21-8. Sam Cirone’s 3rd of the season would give the Miners a 3-2 lead with 42 seconds left in the period and that was the score after 40 minutes of play.
Spencer Milne scored for the second game in a row 2 minutes into the 3rd. Milne’s 6th of the season would give the Miners a 4-2 lead. Mark Ziobro would score his first as a Miner at 7:51 to make it a 5-2 game. Mark Sanchez would close the gap to 5-3 at 14:24 with his team leading 11th. Ethan Wong would score an empty net goal with 1:59 left on the clock to seal a 6-3 Miners win. After a bad first period the Miners would finish the game with a 50-29 shot edge.
The Goldcorp “Hard To Play Against” hardhat would be given to Nic Herringer who’s 2 goals in the second sparked the Miners.
